Skin serums and thick moisturizers serve different purposes and have distinct advantages. Here's why serums are often considered more beneficial. They typically have a higher concentration of active ingredients compared to moisturizers. This allows for more potent effects on the skin. The other thing to keep in mind which i'm always educating my clients about is product penetration. Serums have a lighter, thinner consistency that allows them to penetrate deeper into the skin layers, delivering active ingredients more effectively. Plus they absorb faster due to their lightweight nature without leaving a heavy or greasy residue. And lastly think about their layering ability. When we layer, think thinnest to thickest. Serums can be easily layered under other skincare products, including moisturizers, allowing for a more comprehensive skincare routine. The last step of finishing with your moisturizer helps to really lock the serum in.
